Donating to the Opera House

Keepin' it cool... NRAO Business Manager Mike Holstine presented a gift to Opera House Foundation President Rene White, August 17, 2007. For some Summer events at the Opera House, the stifling heat has almost overwhelmed the pleasure of the show – but no longer. We now have air conditioning! Encouraged by a major gift from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and a number of individual donations to our “Fan Club”, the Board authorized the project this Spring. However, we still owe several thousand dollars on the system, and your donation would be sincerely appreciated. One family who held a wedding with us last Summer and just celebrated another reports: “Last year several older guests almost passed out from the heat, but the temperatures for our wedding June 21st were delightful. General Donations Ticket sales cover only a portion of our annual operating budget, so we must rely on the generosity of our many patrons who recognize the value of the Opera House's role in our community. Without this ongoing support, we could not continue to offer the quality programs our audiences enjoy. The Pocahontas County Opera House Foundation is a non-profit 501c(3) organization. The foundation is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the building, assisting in the continued restoration of the Opera House and programming of events. Donations are gladly accepted. Donors may specify the area to which they would like their donation applied.
